Established almost a decade ago by Justin L. Cave, Mae Rose Interiors began its journey as a Design firm for a select few clients. From our modest beginning, we have thrived, becoming a leading design firm and new retailer on California’s Central Coast. 

The inspiration for the businesses namesake was derived from Justin’s deep love and admiration of both of his grandmothers Mary “Mae” Cave and Margaret (Maggie) “Rose” Checchi. Growing up, Justin would spend weekends at his family's second home in Grover Beach (Grover City at the time) with both sets of his parents as well as both sets of his grandparents. Together they spent countless hours shopping the small businesses of the 5 Cities and San Luis Obispo, CA (SLO) as well as enjoying the beach boogie boarding and eating at their favorite local restaurants especially Jocko's, Alex BBQ, and F. McLintocks where they celebrated many birthdays and special occasions. Justin’s love for the Central Coast drew him back to this special place that is home to he and his spouse Nato. 

Justin's love for interior design started at age 16 when he remodeled one of the bathrooms in his parents house for a summer project. He and his grandfather laid tile, changed countertops and wallpapered the the bathroom. Justin chose the fixtures, moldings, and decor to complete his first project. After that, he was hooked, he went on to redesign bedrooms, living rooms, and kitchens all before he entering college. Throughout his years in college, Justin remained committed to the profession. After earning his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree, Justin went to work in the healthcare field where he gained valuable experience starting a business from the ground up. However, his passion for interior design never left him, as he remodeled the office space numerous times! In fact, his former colleagues would joke that every month the office would look completely different from the month prior and there were walls constantly moved for better space flexibility.
